Choosing the one

A few more thoughts on a previous post, Why is home style important? How do you choose “the one” that works with the “other ones” you will love and care for, and will in return inspire, bring value and joy?

Choosing the one is what movies are made of, romance, drama, comedy and action.
The “one” applies to a home style, lifestyle, kitchen, bath, spouse or the many other things we bring home “a place where our affections are centered”. Bringing home a puppy comes to mind, which ironically has been of “major importance” in the Obama house. The dance of dating also comes to mind.

I think the process goes something like this:

First search for the “one” that makes your heart flutter a bit, the romance.
Second see if it measures up to what makes something of lasting value.
Third, the second step may require you to go back to the first and laugh about what made your heart flutter in the first place.
Forth, move and shake until you can acquire the “one” thing that shares symbolic and tangible value with the “other ones” that you love and care for.

What can be overwhelming is all the clutter in our lives. There are so many things available. The clutter is of two classes. The first is clutter painted up to make our hearts flutter, but has no lasting value. The second is of worth but inspires the heart of another. What is frustrating is second guessing ourselves or missing what the mind or heart is whispering to us. It can also be frustrating when we WANT IT NOW, but it seems to elude us. It takes some patience, but things have a way of working out if we listen to our mind and our heart and move and shake and wait, romance, drama, comedy and action at the right time.
